Dirasakan tiba masanya warga Lipis lebih menjurus kearah mesra seni.Terutama bagi mereka yang bertangungjawab terhadap pembangunan dan kemajuan bandar ini.

Definisi seni yang saya maksudkan bukan sekadar berligar dan terhad kepada pertandingan nyanyian karaoke sahaja. Kena lebih jauh dan luas kefahamannya. Lebih menjurus kepada FINE ART(Seni Halus).

Segala pembangunan yang berlandaskan Material semata hasilannya menjadi hambar dan tidak sempurna. Jauh sekali mendatangkan kepuasan serta ketenangan.lazimnya hasilan itu menjadi sangat beku dan membosankan.Tidak ada kesan memuaskan, paling malang lagi ianya akan mendatangkan pembaziran dan kerugian.

Langkah mendekati Seni yang dimaksudkan bukan lah sukar. Saranan saya,sebagaimana setiap tahun ada acara Karnival Lipis, apa salahnya cuba adakan pula minggu seni Lipis umpamanya.

Pengisiannya boleh lah sama2 difikirkan. Sebagai contoh:

1) Pendedahan seni hiasan laman.

2)Melukis landskap lipis

3)Filem pendek anak2 Lipis.

4)Bengkel/forum kehijaun alamsekitar dan sejarah lipis...dan sebagainya.

Originally this building was the residence for the British Officer. The British began to build this building in 1926. However, when Menteri Besar post was created in 1948, this building has been beautify and renovated to make YAB Menteri Besar Pahang official residence. Below were list of Menteri Besar Pahang believed to have stayed in this house :

As in the list above, Menteri Besar resided the house until 1955. This was due to the transfer of Pahang State Capital from Kuala Lipis to Kuantan on the following year.

Among the historic event that has been carried out in this palace was Wedding Ceremony of KDYMM Sultan Pahang and KDYMM Tengku Ampuan Hajah Afzan binti Tengku Mohamad on 22 April 1954. Our current Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, was born and brought up here. His father, the late Tun Abdul Razak used to reside in this house when he was the Secretary for the government of Pahang.

Lemang is my most favourite dish during Hari Raya or Eid.

Lemang is a traditional glutinous rice food and dish that is always found and served during the Eid. Commonly it is served with chicken or beef rendang.

It is made of glutinous rice and coconut milk and cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick lined with banana leaves in order to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo.

My daughter expressed her spirit of celebrating the coming Eid or Hari Raya by playing with fireworks.

Eid ul-Fitr is coming again in a week time. It marks the end of Ramadhan or a month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "to purify"; and so the holiday symbolizes the purification after completing the fasting month which is after the end of the Islamic month of Ramadhan, on the first day of Syawal.

Right now most of the Malaysians are heading to their kampung to celebrate eid with their beloved families. And for those who will travel back to Lipis ( or other places) and celebrate with their family, I wish that they drive safely. Get enough sleep before you travel.

I will celebrate eid with my family in Kedah. So that i don't have the chance to shoot or photograph the celebration in Kuala Lipis.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya Aidilifitri.

Allah promises us to give blessings when we do good deeds at any time of the year. But during ramadhan He will give extra blessings (bonus). Most of us will do sunat prayer, reciting quran, zikr, donation and many more good deeds.

roti canai

a unique roti canai stall located at Level 3 of Lipis Centerpoint.

Roti canai or prata bread is a form of puffed bread serverd hot with curry or dhal. Usually taken for breakfast together with teh tarik.

Lately there are various improvements (with additional ingredients) used on plain roti to suit Malaysians. For example roti telur bawang (eggs and onions), roti planta (butter), roti sardin, roti bawang (onions), roti tampal ( sticked eggs) and so on.

Mr. Pietra and his wife, the tourists from Austria, are relaxing after having their roti sardin.

Resident Hill's Rest House

This building was built in 1922, at the highest hilltop of Kuala Lipis. The first English Resident who stayed in this building was Sir Hugh Clifford. He was also known as 'the Superintendent of Ulu Pahang'.

This rest house is one of the budget accommodation for tourists that you can get in Kuala Lipis.

Rambutan dah berbuah. Kepada sesiapa yang ada dusun atau pokok rambutan kat kampung tu boleh la balik ke Lipis untuk memanjatnya. Yang tak tau nak panjat boleh kait. Yang tak tau nak panjat dan kait elok sangat lah kamu pergi beli kat pekan sehari je.

The rambutan (pronounced /ræmˈbuːtən/, Nephelium lappaceum) is a medium-sized tropical tree in the family Sapindaceae, and the fruit of this tree. It is native to Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, although its precise natural distribution is unknown. It is closely related to several other edible tropical fruits including the Lychee, Longan, and Mamoncillo. It is believed to be native to the Malay Archipelago. Rambutan in Malay, Indonesian,and Filipino literally means hairy caused by the 'hair' that covers this fruit. (from wikipedia).

Thean Hou's Temple

This temple was constructed by Buddha followers in Lipis in 1898 presided by Kapitan from Ong generation. This temple was located facing Sungai Jelai believed to look after the fishermen safety.

Statue in this temple was taken from China. In this temple there was a carved stone describing Thean Hou temple history.

In 1926, massive flood has caused part of this temple badly damaged. Therefore, this temple had been rebuilt by using concrete structure and monitored by local superintendent at during that time.

This temple which was located in the heart of Kuala Lipis town had made it an attraction to all local tourists or foreign tourists- info from MDL

Hanyut The Movie

Most of the film scenes are shot in Ladang Selbourne (palm estate), Padang Tengku. This place is located about 30 km from Kuala Lipis town.

This film is based on a novel called Almayer's Folly written by Joseph Conrad. This EPIC film (directed by U-Wei Hj. Shaari) tells the story of Almayer, a Dutch trader struggling to survive in Borneo at the turn of the 19th Century. His dream of finding a mythical gold mountain is challenged by his scheming wife, the colonial authorities, the political machinations of the local chief and Arab traders, and his daughter's love for a freedom-fighting Malay prince. Pahang Club

It was the earliest building built by the British in 1907. This building site was the first base where the English first administer Pahang. The purpose of building this house was for Sir Hugh Clifford's at upon of time was the Ulu Pahang Suprintendent who resided in Kuala Lipis.

In June 1898, Kuala Lipis had replaced Pekan as the capital state of Pahang. From the date this house was the official house of the British Resident. During that time the British Resident was Sir Hugh Clifford and planned to build a more suitable residence to monitor Lipis area. Later he found Bukit Resident a more suitable site. While waiting for the house in Bukit Resident to be completed, he resided in the Pahang Club House till 1922- source

Post office which was located in Jalan Besar was constructed in year 1910. Initially, the postal service was under Federal Government administration. This building was shared with Telegraph Services one of Jabatan Telekom services. When Jabatan Telekom was privatized fully in 1989, this service was transferred to the current Telekom Malaysia's main building.

At first, entrance to this post office was facing towards Jalan Besar. But after the huge flood incident in 1971, the main entrance had been shifted to as where it is now.

Post services began to be privatised on 1 January 1992 and known as Pos Malaysia until now. This building had undergone various modifications until being upgraded to the newest in 2002. Branch Manager and his staff had beautify the area and give quality service to the society, in 2004, Pos Malaysia Lipis branch has been accredited as the best Post Office in Malaysia.

The uniqueness historic place at Kuala Lipis was zero marked stone near Post Office. Zero marked stone indicate the beginning of measuring distance of Pahang where its starting point was at Kuala Lipis.- majlis daerah lipis website

The State Mosque

Masjid Madrasatul Firdaus

This mosque was built in 1888 by a Yemeni Arab merchant named Habib Hassan. The original roof of this mosque was made of woods.

It has never gotten submerged by flood although the town of Kuala Lipis had several times of massive floods.

This old photo was photographed in 1971 during a massive flood. The field that used to be a playground was flooded. There was also a cafe known as Ah Kow Cafe (Kantin Ah Kow) situated in this area. The most favourite local cuisine was mouthwatering kuih pau.

The area that used to be a playground is currently a shopping center, Lipis Centerpoint. This building was built in around 1995.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is the national flower of Malaysia, called Bunga Raya in Malay. Introduced into the Malay Peninsula in the 12th Century, it was nominated as the national flower in the year 1958 by the Ministry of Agriculture amongst a few other flowers, namely ylang ylang, jasmine, lotus, rose, magnolia, and bunga tanjung. On 28 July 1960, it was declared by the government of Malaysia that the hibiscus would be the national flower.

The word bunga in Malay means "flower", whilst raya in Malay means "celebration". The hibiscus is literally known as the "celebration flower" in Malay. The red of the petals symbolizes the courage, life, and rapid growth of the Malaysian, and the five petals represent the five Rukun Negara of Malaysia.
